Here’s More Than You Ever Wanted To Know About Me
I don’t think I’m really that difficult to define. I’m an introvert who spends a lot of time, probably too much time, thinking. I am a follower of Jesus Christ and this shapes and drives everything I do. I have been married to my beautiful wife for 30 years, have three grown sons, and a beautiful 4-year-old gran-daughter.
I have held many different jobs/careers through the years including: retail sales clerk (shoes, men’s clothing, kitchen appliances and fine china), retail management, police officer, deputy sheriff, cook, hotel desk clerk, insurance and investment salesman, paperboard box folder/gluer operator, manager of a manufacturing plant, web design/developer, computer programmer, television station personality, and county newspaper editor. Well, at least that’s the main ones.
I started working full-time when I was sixteen (16). I come from a broken home with a father who was an abusive alcoholic and a mother who was abused and emotionally dependent much of the time I was growing up.
I was not raised in a church environment or a religious home, but have had the opportunity to serve God as a Youth Pastor, Pastor, and Missionary.
I’ve been an avid reader my entire life. I read cereal boxes at breakfast and magazines in the bathroom. I read all types of books and have acquired most of my knowledge through reading.
I have been really blessed to have the opportunity to travel in Africa, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Guatemala, Israel, Jordan, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, and Thailand. We also had the life-changing experience of living in Papua New Guinea for several years.
I am, at the time of writing this, 51 years old. I am currently working on three different books. One is a “how-to” book on shopping for or ‘buying’ a web site. It has been titled “SHOPPING FOR A WEBSITE? Asking the Right Questions… Knowing The Right Answers“. The second is a book on Marriage Enrichment entitled, “MARRIED … AND ENJOYING IT! 30 Years Of Marriage Enrichment Secrets.” And finally, the third is a book entitled “PIG BRAINS AND PROMISES True Stories of God’s Grace and Power” which highlights 19 of the miraculous events that God has lead me through since I began my journey home almost 30 years ago.
I designed and currently also blog at www.Marriage-Moments.com. It strives to provides “daily ideas, thoughts and resources to enrich your marriage.“
I also participated in and was a winner in the 2009 NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month during November. This is an exciting event where people accept the challenge of writing a 50,000 word novel in 30 days! I finished my novel on day 29 at 63,391 words!
Well, that might be more than you ever wanted to know about me. I only list the information above to help you understand my background so that you might better understand my blog posts. This is my life – it is a journey homeward, and I haven’t arrived yet. I don’t know where the next steps of the journey will lead me, but I know where the road will end!
Blessings!
