The $2,200 Per Day Congressmen Spent In Copenhagen

The CBS Evening News with Catie Couric is continuing to release information about 106 people who traveled to Copenhagen using our tax dollars. Congressional leaders from both sides, and some of their family members traveled to Copenhagen to attend the Climate Summit in Denmark. One expense report shows that 21 Congressmen spent $2,200 per day for food and a hotel room – PER PERSON! Thats a shamefull total of $46,200.

The White House is complaining about bank bonuses paid to CEO’s – I think the politicians should start in their own back yards! Is this change – or business as usual? The total cost of the trip to Copenhagen, according to CBS News, was more than $1 million dollars. If you didn’t get a chance to catch this, make time to read more about it.

It seems that the only news we hear about this is negative. We’re told when some insignificant little church group in Kansas (the fundamentalist Westboro Baptist Church which believes God is killing soldiers because the United States tolerates homosexuality) holds a protest at a fallen soldiers’ funeral. We are continually presented with the running total on the cost of the war in American lives – so that we can find somebody in the government to blame.

What about all the wonderful responses and actions being given each and every day by caring members of these soldiers’ neighborhoods and communities? What about the stories of the soldiers themselves? Why don’t we hear more about the dedicated way these fine young men and women lived their lives and died in service to the country they loved?

How about some reporting that shows us various opportunities for getting involved with these families and how we can provide both emotional and finacial support?

The Healthcare Reform Bill

This is a really major issue for all Americans. We hear so much “hype” from both sides, but not enough actual facts. The ‘party lines’ seem to be that the bill will either, “Ruin the country and destroy the economy for our children”, or “Provide affordable healthcare for everybody, everywhere!” Do any of us really believe that either extreme will happen?

We need more clear facts. Tell us – the American Public – exactly what the bill will provide and how much it will cost. Do this in simple english. We aren’t stupid. We want to understand and then be given a chance to either give the bill a ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down.’

The only thing nuttier than what his parents are teaching 6 year old Falcon Heene is the massive coverage the story continues to recieve in the media. The parents are being punished and hopefully child services is investigating the wellfare of the children. Why are we continuing to give Mr. Heene (the dad) what he’s wanted all along – publicity?

Enough already!

Tiger Woods’ Sex Life

Isn’t it time to leave this man alone? For our sake as much as his. We have so many challenges in our country today that could use the news exposure time. I am not a Tiger Woods fan, I just think it is really sorry how the media turns these affairs into a three ring circus. This man has a wife and kids who are hurting. Let’s leave them alone so they can try to move on with their lives.

If we wanted to hear this kind of trash, we’d just tune into “Desperate Housewives” or the “Jerry Springer Show.”

Enough already!
